Asking for Reviews

September 28, 2017

It’s ironic that I am writing this post because I’ve been pretty lame at asking for reviews! But it’s really a great boost to your business, especially on Google. Good Google reviews matter and will boost your local search ranking.

Here are a few non-icky ways to ask:

  1. Send a thank you email to your customers after the service and ask for a review.

  2. Give the customer a business card that includes the social media sites your business is on.

  3. Provide tangible encouragement - think of something that you can give to your customers as a thank you for a review.

A few points to note:

When you ask, make it easy for your customers to find you - give exact links or instructions. Test them out on yourself or a friend first to make sure they are correct!

Best tip alert!

If you are logged into the Google account that is associated with your business, Google will not display your reviews for you to see. For example, you will get an email saying a review has been added and you can click and see the review from the email - but, when you look for it in a real search, it’s not there! Try this: log out of your Google account and try that search again, it should be there.
